When to apply for a Permit to Use?

If there is a planned operation, event, or other use of city land, apply for a use permit. If the use is within a private plot of land, the consent of the owner of the plot of land must be obtained. It should be noted that a permit should be applied to the Road Administration for the use of urban highways and to the Fax Office for the use within port boundaries. What constitutes a rupture of the surface of city land?

This refers to all erosion and other earthworks in the city land where the surface of the streets, sidewalks, paths, green areas, etc. must then be restored. There also fall under construction and other human activities where urban land needs to be used. It should be noted that the use permit must also be applied for larger building plots and works that are entirely within the plot of land as such works affect the accessibility and flow of traffic on the city land. An application must be made for a use permit in the Rosy electronic application system.

What is covered by events and other utilities?

This can include filming, outdoor concerts, outings, mass walks, sports competitions, and other events of all kinds. Other uses of city land include farm transport containers, work platforms, work lifts, cranes, other work tools, etc.

Street and square sales

Street and square sales are agreed and should be directed to the address square sales@reykjavik.is.

Outdoor dining and sidewalk dining

The permit for outdoor provision and placement of catering tables on the sidewalk is issued by the building supervisor in Reykjavik and should be directed to the construction site addressfulltrui@reykjavik.is. It is strongly emphasized that a service area is defined and delimited, that all equipment is accounted for and that all road users should pay for a safe and unhindered route past the service area.
